Obituary of Christine A. Walker

Christine (Cox) Walker, daughter of the late Aves Cox, was born January 4, 1924 in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania passed away on August 4, 2020 at the age of 96. She was educated in the city's public schools. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for many years until retirement. She rejoined the workforce at age 62 until her second retirement, at which time she enrolled at the local community college. Christine was a loving devoted mother and dedicated follower of Christ with a beautiful, spirited personality whose laugh could stay with you forever. She always had a listening ear, warm hug and a thought-provoking word to share with anyone who was wise enough to seek her counsel. Affectionately known as Mother Walker by members of her church home, Sanctuary Church of the Open Door, Christine could be found setting up for programs, serving as the pastor's aide, and volunteering for any task to help enhance her church home. She joins her mother, Aves; siblings, Sterling, Robert (Bobby), Pauline, and Louis (Billy); children, LaVerne (Fessie) and Robert Jr. (Chuck); and dearest, Robert Sr. all of whom preceded her in death. Her memories are carried on by her daughter, Sandra; son, Darryl; daughters-in-laws, Yon and Marcia; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of loved ones that adored her spirit. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Friday August 14th from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM and Saturday August 15 th from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the Sanctuary Church of Open Door 5923 Walnut St. Philadelphia, PA 19139. Funeral Service Saturday 11:00 AM. Interment Fernwood Cemetery.
