Obituary of James J. McCusker

James McCusker ("Mose") on December 14, 2019, of Philadelphia, PA, and North Wildwood, NJ was a "People Person," entertaining and present in every conversation. His interest in others quite authentic and charming……and always the last to leave the party as he said his good byes. His values were stronger than oak and his loyalty deeply entrenched with his family. He was a devoted husband to his lifelong soulmate, Veronica (nee McNeill), and father to four happy children: James (Kelly), Patricia D'Alfonso (Anthony), Gregory (Chris) and Jeffrey. He was happiest…..when they were happy. Also survived by his siblings Rennie, Robert, Michael, Margaret and the late Tucker. He was a friend and a brother……and quite possibly the "unofficial mayor" of the North Wildwood beaches these last twenty years. He patrolled the beach like he owned it, and he was most comfortable relaxing under the beach umbrella or body surfing and riding the waves – something he taught us all. While family was his top priority, he also loved coaching, a good meal and dessert, the Eagles and the Phillies and oh yeah…. the Sixers too. Jim was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School, Class of 1960. He managed hundreds of people for the government (Social Security Administration) and when he retired, they showed up in full force to pay tribute. Anyone could see that he was fondly admired and loved by all. He was so proud of his children and always thrilled to see his seven grandchildren (Anthony, Jimmy, Samantha, Shane, Maggie, MacKenzie and Erinn). "Pop" couldn't wait to hug them and hear what was going on in their lives. He lived a good and decent life ….and his greatest treasure of all was his marriage to Veronica of 57 years. It's just the sweetest example of companionship, friendship, love, and appreciation. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, December 23rd at Nativity BVM Church 2535 E. Allegheny Ave. Phila., PA 19134 from 9:00-11:00 AM. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jim's memory to The Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
